Episode 4: My First Wins Living in Spain
THE GOLDEN MOVE DIARY
8/24/2025

I honestly thought the hardest part of moving abroad would be finding a job, making friends, and speaking the language.
And, well… I was right.
But what surprised me was how proud I felt of the small things along the way.
Like the first time I walked to the supermarket and back without checking Google Maps. Such a small thing, but it felt like a huge achievement.
Or the day I met my first real friend here.
It happened so randomly, on the beach.
We started talking, and soon we were meeting up regularly.
Having someone to share the little moments with changed everything.
And maybe my favorite: the first time I actually said "hola" and "adiós"
at the supermarket without hesitating.
Just two words, but they made me feel like I was slowly becoming part of this place.
It's funny how those tiny wins mean so much.
They're the moments that keep me going. And of course, not every moment was a win, some were shocking, confusing,
and even a little funny.
👉 I'll share those culture shock moments in my next diary.

Three years ago, I moved to Spain with no plan but a strong feeling. I chose to follow my gut rather than look back with regret.
